As biologically diverse as the Amazon is, this peculiar creature would not appear to be a natural inhabitant of the Brazilian jungle or, indeed, Earth for that matter. Standing just a few feet from a mesmerising flashing light, this unidentified being could offer proof that we are not alone in the universe. The image comes from a video obtained by noted paranormal writer Michael Cohen and is claimed to have been filmed by two British tourists visiting the Mamaus region of the Amazon.

The Tunguska event, or Tunguska blast or Tunguska explosion, was an enormously powerful explosion that occurred near the Podkamennaya Tunguska River in what is now Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia, at about 7:14 a.m. on June 30, 1908. The explosion is believed to have been caused by the air burst of a large meteoroid or comet fragment at an altitude of 5–10 kilometres (3–6 mi) above the Earth’s surface. Different studies have yielded varying estimates of the object’s size, with general agreement that it was a few tens of metres across. The number of scholarly publications on the problem of the Tunguska explosion since 1908 may be estimated at about 1,000 (mainly in Russian). Many scientists have participated in Tunguska studies, the best-known of them being Leonid Kulik, Yevgeny Krinov, Kirill Florensky, Nikolai Vladimirovich Vasiliev and Wilhelm Fast. Although the meteoroid or comet burst in the air rather than hitting the surface, this event is still referred to as an impact. The behaviour of meteorites in the Earth’s atmosphere was less well understood during the early decades of the 20th century. Due to this, as well as the paucity of relevant data resulting from Soviet secrecy during the Cold War, a great many other hypotheses for the Tunguska event have sprung up, none of which are accepted by the scientific community.

Annalee Newitz — Several days ago, we reported that a Swedish team of shipwreck hunters discovered a strange, circular object at the bottom of the Baltic Sea that looks sort of like the Millennium Falcon. The group was using sonar to plumb the depths of the waters, hoping to find shipwrecks that might contain treasures they could sell. The Ocean Explorer team isn’t sure what to make of this strange discovery that some are calling a crashed UFO, but they’ve released more information about it.

Here you can see Peter Lindberg, from the Swedish Ocean Explorer team that discovered the object, explaining what they found. Earlier, he told reporters:

At 87 meters down, between Sweden and Finland, they saw a large circle, about 60 feet in diameter. You see a lot of wierd stuff in this job but during my 18 years as a professional I have never seen anything like this. The shape is completly round…a circle.

Apparently there are tracks about 300 meters long leading up to the object, leading Lindberg to speculate that the object has moved. So far nobody has explored the object yet, so hopefully we’ll be learning more about this as the story develops.

In what’s sure to rekindle the debate over the question of life beyond Earth, a scientist at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center says he has fossil evidence of bacterial life inside of a rare class of meteorites. Writing in the March edition of the Journal of Cosmology, Richard B. Hoover argues that an examination of a collection of 9 meteorites - called CI1 carbonaceous meteorites - contain “indigenous fossils” of bacterial life. ”The complex filaments found embedded in the CI1 carbonaceous meteorites represent the remains of indigenous microfossils of cyanobacteria,” according to Hoover. That matter-of-fact sentence also underscores the shout-out-loud implication that the detection of fossils of cyanobacteria in the CI1 meteorites raises the possibility of life on comets. And Hoover does not shy away from offering that very conclusion.  Skeptics will doubtless weigh in soon with questions. Still, Hoover’s proposition may have stirred more controversy several years ago. More recently, though, some scientists have suggested that meteors and comets slamming into the Earth brought with them the very integuments of life, including water and a host of complex organic chemicals. If he’s right, Hoover may have evidence to support that theory. He argues that the complex filaments he found embedded in the meteors are micro-fossils of extraterrestrial life forms that existed on the meteorites a long time ago prior to the meteorites’ entry into the Earth’s atmosphere.

Battle: Los Angeles is an upcoming 2011 science fiction film directed by Jonathan Liebesman, and starring Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez, Michael Pena, Ne-Yo, and Bridget Moynahan. The film’s premise is inspired by the 1942 Battle of Los Angeles incident (sometimes called the “Great Los Angeles Air Raid of 1942”) in which a presumed enemy attack, later deemed a “false alarm,” led to an hour-long anti-aircraft artillery bombardment over the city of Los Angeles. The film is set in modern day Los Angeles and follows a platoon of Marines and Airmen during a global alien invasion.

Paul is an upcoming 2011 ensemble science fiction comedy film directed by Greg Mottola and written by and starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Two British comic geeks go on a road trip through America. On the way, they discover an alien named Paul at Area 51.

Recent light has been shed on the reason that the Search For Extraterrestrial Intelligence project has been cancelled by the government. It seems that something was starting to happen. According to my sources the government black project boys have taken over some of the antennas and are now processing signals for the exclusive use of the United States Navy. The government seems to be highly upset that more than one very large object is fast approaching Earth.

There are at least 4,000 humanoid cases (researched by Albert Rosales), also known as Close Encounters of the Third Kind, a term coined by J. Allen Hynek. Humanoid” means “having human form or characteristics.” The term “Close Encounter of the Third Kind” means seeing or coming in contact with an entity of unknown origin. The encounter may or may not be related to the sighting of an unidentified craft.
